A growing number of Saskpower Metering customers are interested in generating their own power. We’re confident that the changes Saskpower have made will support the growth of Saskatchewan’s renewable industry and create greater certainty for program participants. The town of Wilke and its community members are excited to grow in the areas of renewable energy and solar power.

The decision to move forward on the project came when pandemic related funding was announced last year. Gerein said it’s important for Wilkie to start offsetting maintenance costs, which have risen significantly over the past decade. Freeing up that money would allow the town to cover other costs, even at the same facility.
Sometimes we typically have a $7,000 bill in the winter for month,” Gerein said. “That’s a lot of funding that could be recouped and used, even at the facility, like programming or refurbishing dressing rooms.”
“Along with being eco friendly. It will help support the community by cutting down on costs, so we can move the money elsewhere, to other areas that need financial support”
Real Time Solar Energy Monitoring Of Wilkie Community Centres Solar Install
Real Time Solar Energy Monitoring
The monitoring platform provides enhanced PV performance monitoring and yield assurance through immediate fault detection and alerts at the module level, string level and system level.
No hardware or wiring is required to transmit data from the power optimizers to the inverter: the monitoring sensors and transmitters are built into the SolarEdge power optimizer and solar inverter, and measurement data is transmitted over the regular power lines.
This system will allow the town of Wilkie and its residents to easily monitor and access information based on their solar energy performance.
